Why Martial Arts?

I don't spend too much time talking about martial arts, so I figured I'd take a brief moment to talk about something that is a fundamental part of me.

I started training at the Allen Academy in 2011 after a good friend of mine recommended I give it a try. I went in and worked out one afternoon, and I never looked back.

In 2014 I began teaching and volunteering my time at the Allen Academy. Since then, volunteering my time has been a constant theme in my life, and you can find me there a few days out of the week teaching, working out, and spending time at the dojo.

Today's Highlights

The young boy in the video recently started training at our Academy. Since he is still relatively new, he is a bit shy and reserved, but he has been warming up and opening up quite a bit. This past week, we had the honor of awarding him his white belt.

These events make me feel proud, honored, and appreciative of how much the teacher/student relationship is always occurring, and I am humbled to be able to pass on the information I have been taught to today's students.
